Shadow Creek Tops Defending Champ Argyle 51-45 in 6A-D2 State Semis

A 9-1 run to close the first half set the tone. Shadow Creek's Sharks carried that momentum all the way to a 51-45 victory over Argyle in the 6A-Division 2 state semifinals — knocking out the defending 5A-Division 2 champions in the process.

Courtland Cloud was the engine of the offense, finishing with a game-high 21 points. She was a problem in transition all night, converting on the break and using a sharp crossover to create separation. No one had a consistent answer for her.

Aliyah Woodard provided a critical spark late in the first half, draining a 3-pointer in front of the Argyle bench as part of that closing run. She finished with 12 points, adding a crafty spin move in the post in the second half. Shonda Gilbert also contributed, knocking down a mid-range jumper from 15 feet to keep the pressure on.

The sequence that shifted momentum came on back-to-back possessions — Xyah Williams hit a corner 3 off a cross-court feed from Genesis Obanla, then turned around and recorded a steal that led to a Courtland Cloud bucket on the other end. Shadow Creek led by three at the break and pulled away in the second half to advance.
