February 11, 2026
Discover how the La Marque Cougars are using the unique chemistry of three sets of senior twins to chase their first-ever state basketball championship.
The La Marque Cougars boys basketball team is making headlines this season for a rare and remarkable roster feature: three sets of senior twins. Joshua and Julian Minix, Brendon and Brandon Harris, and Jacory and Jacoby Hailey account for six of the fifteen players on the squad, bringing a unique level of chemistry and intuition to the court. This deep-rooted connection has helped propel the Cougars to a dominant season with over 30 wins and only one loss. Under the guidance of head coach and La Marque alumnus Kevin Wilcox, the team is focused on a singular goal: winning the program's first-ever state championship. After falling just one game short of the state tournament last year, the Cougars are utilizing their physicality, experience, and intense work ethic to navigate uncharted territory. The players credit their success to mutual accountability and a competitive practice environment that emphasizes excellence in the court, community, and classroom.
