Rosehill Christian has dominated TAPPS 3A golf behind the coaches daughter, Jaycee Jenkins
With an enrollment of just under 500 students, you might find it odd that a golf dynasty is taking place at Rosehill Christian. But it is. The boys won the 3A TAPPS title last year and the girls….well, they just completed a 3 peat last Spring. Sparked by one of the nation’s best female high school golfers, Rosehill Christian is dominating the links. It’s certainly been fun for Jaycee Jenkins during her high school career. She has won the individual state championship her freshman, sophomore and junior years. And to be honest….it hasn’t been that close. This past TAPPS championship tournament, Jaycee shot a 66 and 69 in the two day event to win by 12 strokes. Jenkins was nominated for USA Today high school golfer of the year and this past summer she played in the Girls High School Golf Nationals in Frisco. Kristen Jenkins has been able to see her daughter’s talent blossom up close. Kristen is the head golf coach at Rosehill Christian and says despite the possible mother/daughter friction, Jaycee has been a joy to coach. Jaycee spent the summer traveling to Dallas, Miami and South Carolina to showcase her talents for colleges. But she has really been spending time learning from her grandfather, senior PGA pro, Sammy Borden.
