Playoffs Week 6 - Aledo Bearcats vs. Brenham Cubs - 2013 Football
Brenham head coach Glenn West had his team fired up for this one, fully embracing the underdog role, the Cubs served notice early on that they had come to play. Midway through the first quarter the defense comes up big with with a goal line on stand on 4th and goal from the 1 yard line as Aledo's Ryan Newsome is stoned at the point of attack. That would spark the offense as they would put together an impressive drive with Caleb Hill hitting Courtland Sutton with this rainbow, Sutton showing some great athleticism as he outleaps the defender to set up Brenham up at the Aledo 4 yard line. But then disaster strikes. In a game where points would come up at a premium they fumble the handoff and Aledo's Tyson Mauser shoots through unblocked for the recovery. Just before halftime Aledo would go over the 1000 point total for the season with this touchdown pass from Luke Bishop to Ryan Newsome, more importantly it gave Aledo a 17-3 lead at the half. On the opening play of the 4th quarter Aledo quarterback would deliver a dagger to Brenham's hopes as quarterback Luke Bishop delivers a perfect pass in a tight window to his favorite target Taco Anderson to give the Bearcats a commanding 24-3 lead. Trying desperately to get back in the game, the Cubs resort to a little trickery...Caleb Hill off the flea flicker gets just enough on this deep ball to Tre'Vonte Johnson, this one covers 70 yards in all. hill would finish with 217 yards passing for the day, but it wouldn't be nearly enough as Aledo completes a perfect 16-0 season winning by a final of 38-10.
