Playoffs Week 5 - Pearland Oilers vs. San Antonio Madison Mavericks - 2013 Football

To Waco ISD Stadium we go where we find the Pearland Oilers taking on a tough Madison Maverick squad from San Antonio. The 2 teams traded field goals early but then the touchdowns started coming in bunches. First it would be Madison when quarterback Cody Ennis rolls to his left and launches well, not the PRETTIEST ball but it gets the job done as JaMichael Brown comes down with it wrestles away the defender and has a clear path to paydirt. And then on Madison's next drive they strike again this time Ennis pitches to Dominique Daniels who cuts it up through the D and walks in for the score, Mavericks rolling. Pearland finally wakes up the offense, this a 4th down play when quarterback Connor Heath scrambles, scrambles, he then cuts loose and finds Conner Chidester who got behind the D from 45 yards out, just like that the Oilers back in the game. Second half action now and Madison strikes again, this time Ennis calls his own number from 3 yards out, Mavericks back on top by 2 touchdowns. Back come the Oilers, here Heath gives to Jacoby Lewis who fakes the reverse and takes it around the end and in for the score form 9 yards out. Then on the Oilers next possession they would tie it up when Zachary Boegler from the 'wildcat formation' takes the snap and bowls his way for the tying score. 4th quarter now and Heath hands it to JaColbie Butler on the end around and Butler avoids being dragged down and fights his way in from 12 yards out, tough running by the Oilers in the second half, and with that the Oilers go on top. Madison would answer however when Ennis drops back, pumps, and throws a beauty to Byron Daniels who makes a remarkable catch in the corner of the endzone and that would put the Mavericks back on top with less than 2 minutes left in the game, but on the ensuing kickoff Jacoby Lewis fields it from his own 3, and he's gonna find his way downfield, there were 4 lead changes in the games final 11 minutes, as Lewis takes it back for the touchdown. The Mavericks were trying for a 5th lead change, but on 4th and 15, Ennis rolls to his right, throws one up for grabs and Pearland's Ryan Diaz is there for the INT and that would do it, Pearland gets the hard fought 38-34 win over Madison and next week they will face Allen for class 5A Division 1 state championship at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
