Playoffs Week 1 - Stafford Spartans vs. Sealy Tigers - 2014 Football
Sealy was down to it’s 4th string kicker, sophomore Jestin (Jestin not Justin) Welch who was called up from the JV to get his first start against Stafford in the 4A Division I first round. 1st quarter, Sealy’s Holton Einkauf goes up the middle and is off to the races for the apparent touchdown, but a penalty brings it back and the drive would stall on a fumble much to the chagrin of Sealy head coach Jason Holcomb. On Sealy’s next possession look at the trickery as the Einkauf swings it to Ben Haas who finds Jake Miller and the Tigers get the ball down to the Stafford 3, but another penalty brings this back and the Sealy ends up settling for a Welch field goal and only a 3-0 lead in the first quarter instead of a potential 14-0 lead. Ron Counter’s Spartans bounced back in the 2nd quarter, Curtis Robinson lets it fly and Tysen Williams is there for the 40 yard reception to the Sealy 33 yard line. Later in the drive, Brian Imarenozor with the touchdown run giving Stafford a 7-3 lead. Einkauf marching the Tigers down the field, but he’s picked off by Jerick Pitre and Pitre goes all the way back for the Pick 6. Stafford never looks back in a 33-3 victory.
