July 21, 2018
The Pearland Oilers looking for a long run through the post season kicking off with Deer Park in the first round. Oilers waste no time applying the pressure, Kalen Johnson connects with Jacoby Lewis...nice yards after the catch as Lewis makes his way 43 yards into Deer territory...nice tackle by Seth Brown. Then Lewis caps the drive as he breaks to the near side and strolls his way 38 yards for the first score of the night 7-0 Pearland. The Oilers not holding anything back early. On their next series, JaColby Butler takes the inside handoff and leaves the defense in the dust, an impressive 80-yard touchdown run and just like that, the Oilers in control 14-0. Keep it up! But the Deer bounce back on their ensuing possession. Trey Farmer powers his way through the defense, Deer Park on the board trailing 14-6. However, the Oilers would keep flexing some muscle as they answer with a 14-yard quarterback keeper by Johnson and the lead grows to 21-6 Pearland. The Oilers defense also causing fits...Kevin Harvey pressuring Deer QB Connor Means flushing him from the pocket and forcing the errant pass Marlon Wells is there for the INT. That made it 28-6 Pearland and Pearland goes on to the 2nd round.
