Pasadena Dobie Longhorns vs. Alvin Yellowjackets - 2013 Football - Week 7
July 21, 2018
Dobie head coach Jim Phillips was leading the charge for the Longhorns as they hosted Alvin. The Yellowjackets were deep in Longhorn territory late in the 2nd quarter, but Ryan Williams steps in front of the Eric Olszewski pass right at the goal line to end the threat, and Dobie went into the half up 17-7. Alvin strikes back in the 3rd thanks to some Dobie struggles in the kick return game, Carlos Garcia busts in for a short touchdown cutting the lead to 17-14. Alvin was up 20-17 with under a minute to go in the 4th, when Joe Gonzalez finds Darius Simmons wide open for the apparent touchdown, Dobie was celebrating but they celebrated too soon...literally the ref calls Simmons for excessive celebration before the play is dead so the touchdown is nullified and Simmons is wondering if he cost his team the game. ,But Rashad Randall takes care of that by getting into the endzone with :36 seconds to play. Alvin with a shot, Russel Dupelchin heaves it up as time expires, but nothing doing, the pass is incomplete for Alvin as Dobie wins 24-20.
