It’s the rematch we’ve waited all year for, Katy and North Shore, in front of an electric crowd at NRG Stadium. North Shore opens the scoring as Zach Evans scampers in from 5 yards out, it’s 7-0 Mustangs. Katy answers almost immediately, Quarterback Bronson McLelland rolls to his right and sees a wide open Steven Stiles downfield, it doesn’t get much easier than that, Stiles goes 72 yards for the tigers touchdown to tie it up at 7. North Shore marches right back down the field and Evans slips out of a tackle for his second score of the game, Mustangs lead 14-7. But on the ensuing kickoff, Bryan Massey fields the kick at his own 14, sees a crease, and he’s gone. He takes it 86 yards to the house and just like that it’s tied up again at 14 apiece. In the 2nd, Dematrius Davis pump fakes, and decides to take off running. Great decision, he races down the sideline, throws on a move, and just does get to pylon for a 40 yard touchdown run, Mustangs on top 21-14. McLelland says ‘Hey I can run a little bit too,’ he doesn’t have anything so he comes back to his right and darts in for a 7 yard touchdown that evens it back up at 21. Late in the 2nd, North Shore on the move again, and Davis connects with Charles King it’s a 25-yard scoring strike and the Mustangs reclaim the lead at 28-21. The Mustangs get it back with less than a minute remaining in the half, and Davis airs it out deep for Ismael Fuller. What a throw! Beautiful pass for a 48 yard touchdown and North Shore takes a 35-21 halftime lead. In the third, Davis drops back and doesn’t have any open receivers, so again he scrambles, and what a run by the junior. He takes it 30 yards for the Mustangs touchdown, they lead it 42-21. What a night for Davis, he throws 3 touchdowns, rushes 283 yards and 3 more scores, and North Shore avenges its season-opening loss to Katy with a 56-35 win. The Mustangs move on to face the winner of today’s game between Atascocita and Katy Tompkins.
