03/08/14

North Shore had it's work cut out for them. DeSoto hadn't allowed more than 50 points in 11 out of its last 12 games and are led by 6-7 forward Terry Maston who is headed to play for Baylor next year. Jarrey Foster had himself quite the first quarter with as the Mustangs go on a 13-2 run. Foster had 10 of his 12 points during the run. Maston with a great spin move down low to stop the North Shore momentum and DeSoto starts to set the pace. Takedrick Brown drills three 1st half treys from the same spot on the baseline and North Shore found itself down 28-25 at the break. North Shore was having a tough time scoring in the 3rd, but fortunately for the Mustangs they were still in it when Jalin Hart finally gets one in the hole midway thru the 3rd. In the 4th the Stangs pressure defense translates into points courtesy of Brandon Etienne on the other end to tie things. Etienne had 11. Late 4th North Shore up 1, but Devin Wyatt finds a crease in the lane for the Jam and it was back and forth. Under 30 seconds to play, Foster with perhaps the play of the game the block and catch all in one motion, what a stop! North Shore seemed to have the game in hand with the ball and up 3 with under 10 seconds to play, but Julian Miranda gets a hold of the errant pass and has the presence of mind to step out for the three, the shot is off but DeSoto hustles for the board and got the ball back with 7/10ths of a second left. Miranda again, but the potential game tying shot is off and North Shore despite shooting 15/58 holds on for the win 48-45.
