North Shore Blanks Atascocita 35-0, Extends Series Win Streak to 12
Twelve straight. That's how long North Shore has owned this rivalry, and Friday night's 35-0 shutout of Atascocita made it clear the Mustangs have no intention of letting it end anytime soon.
The top-ranked Mustangs wasted little time against an Atascocita squad that came in riding a three-game winning streak. Quarterback Ja'Voris Taylor connected with La'Damian DeFreeze across the middle on the opening drive, moving the ball to the one-yard line before Darrell Haynes punched it in to put North Shore up 7-0.
Taylor kept the pressure on in the second quarter, finding a wide-open DeFreeze outside the pocket to push the lead to 14. From there, it was Haynes who took over. The running back scored on a designed quarterback run in the third quarter, then added a second score late in the period with a determined goal-line effort that showcased his elusiveness in tight spaces. He finished with three rushing touchdowns on the night.
Taylor capped the scoring in the fourth quarter with a swing pass to Jaden Kendrick, who powered his way into the end zone to complete the 35-0 final.
North Shore's defense was equally dominant, holding the Eagles scoreless throughout and reinforcing why the Mustangs remain the standard in this rivalry matchup.
