Memorial Stays Unbeaten at 7-0, Tops Alief Taylor 42-18 for 20-6A Title Shot

October 22, 2026
Houston Memorial improved to 7-0 with a 42-18 win over Alief Taylor, keeping the Mustangs in contention for the District 20-6A title.

A District 20-6A title was on the line when Houston Memorial hosted Alief Taylor, and the Mustangs made their case early and emphatically. Memorial jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back, rolling to a 42-18 victory that kept their unbeaten record intact at 7-0.

Quarterback Evan Mauritzen got things going with a play-action fake before rolling right and finding West Peacock for the opening score. Alief Taylor responded when Nick Kongolo pulled the ball on a read option and took it in from five yards out, but Memorial maintained control throughout.

In the second quarter, a direct snap to Conrad Bennett resulted in a two-yard touchdown run, adding to a lead that Taylor could never seriously threaten. The final margin — 42-18 — reflected Memorial's dominance on both sides of the ball.

The Mustangs remain one of the top contenders in District 20-6A heading into the back half of the regular season, with a perfect record and playoff positioning firmly in their favor.
