Playing without fellow junior standout Rori Harmon, Cy Creek finds itself in an early hole, as this three pointer by Nic Porter puts McKinney up 11-2 midway through the first.

Hunter begins to assert herself, driving to the hoop and using the nice move to lay it in off the glass for two.

Later, it’s Hunter open for three at the top of the key, and she swishes it, Cy Creek pulls back within four at the end of the first quarter.

More from Hunter in the 2nd, drives down the lane and uses her left hand to finish for two for the Lady Cougars.

Then it’s Hunter showing off the range, she knocks down another three ball to pull Cy Creek within two.

Moments later, Ally Hamman lets it fly from long distance and she nails it as well as Cy Creek takes its first lead of the night at 25-24. The Lady Cougars lead by five at halftime and return from the locker room determined to finish the job.

Later, it’s Hamman splashing home the transition three that brings the bench to its feet, Cy Creek up 7 heading to the fourth.

Hunter continues her heroic performance, weaving her way through the McKinney defense for two more of her game-high 31 points.

Cy Creek leads by three with 9 seconds remaining when Hunter’s missed free throw gives McKinney one last chance, Erin Fry’s three pointer rims out but the Lady Lions get the rebound and kick it out to Naomi Anamekwe(Anna-meck-way) for the three at the buzzer but it’s off the mark and Cy Creek survives with a thrilling 54-51 state semifinal win over McKinney, the Lady Cougars advance to play Duncanville in the 6A state title game.
