The Manvel Mavericks were in a battle with LaPorte, up 28-14 on the Bulldogs to start the second half. LaPorte showing signs of good "D" early in the third pressuring Deriq King Terrell Bernard and Lane Albertson combine for the sack. But the Mavericks get the last laugh on the next play. king goes up top into the hands of Gary Haynes for a 42-yard scoring play and a 35-14 advantage. LaPorte still fighting, however the Bulldogs turn to the bag of tricks and it would backfire. Jonathan Lewis gives to Britt Grant on the end around Grant fires to the end zone but Will Lockett is there for the pick and Lockett will look for room to run on the return, he takes it out to the 42 before being brought down by Trevor Nelson and Jordan Herbert. Big momentum killer for Manvel. Late in the third it's a long distance touchdown run by King, after he looks off the defense he finds nothing but wide open spaces that's 72 yards for the score and the Mavericks are in complete control 42-14. The Bulldogs would reach pay dirt for the first time in the 2nd half when Jordan Jackson gets it to Grant for a 16 yards touchdown with just over 9 minutes to go in the 4th cutting the lead in half 42-21. But the Mavericks would prove to be too tough late in the 4th the defense seals the victory as Collin Scott registers the interception on Nick Brown, and Manvel rolls on to the second round after a dominating 45-21 victory over La Porte.
