Manvel Mavericks vs. Duncanville Pantherettes - 2013/14 Girls Basketball - 03/01/14

So the stage was set for the long awaited showdown, Duncanville riding that amazing 105 game winning streak looking to add one more behind Texas commit Ariel Atkins, but Brianna Turner and the Lady Mavs had other ideas. Lets get right to it Keyana Smith finds Atkins at the top of the arc and she bangs home the long three. Lady Mavs find themselves down early. But they would settle down and get things going, here Jonee Jones weaves her way through a majority of the D and scoops home the layup, Manvel only down 4 at the break. 2nd half action Turner doing it on both ends, first she gets the steal, lets Keyerra Fisher lead the break, she can't connect on the lay up but Turner, who was following the play, puts home the rebound, nice hustle by Turner. But don't count out Duncanville and Atkins, here Tasia Foman almost looses the handle but finds Atkins in the corner and bang! A huge three right there. But Manvel answers that three when Jordan Hosey gets it on the block and watch the spin she puts on Atkins, Lady Mavs take the lead. Duncanville gets a little sloppy with the ball and Jones scoops up the loose ball and has a clear path to the bucket 58-53 the Manvel Lady Mavericks are state champs. Forget MVP we just won a state championship, we won the state championship, but it's really great, I'm just excited and speechless and I just don't know what to say.
