Magnolia vs Highland Park - 2019 Texas High School Football Playoffs Week 2 Highlights
Let’s head up to the Metroplex where Magnolia meets 3-time defending state champion Highland Park…
Tough start for the Bulldogs, on the 2nd play from scrimmage, Chandler Morris connects with Case Savage over the middle, and Savage is off to the races, he takes it 78 yards for a Highland Park touchdown, Scots up 7-0 early.
But Magnolia answers immediately. Travis Moore airs it out into the end zone for Ben Renfro, perfect pitch and catch for a 24-yard score, Bulldogs tie it up at 7 apiece.
In the 2nd, Moore rolls to his left and tosses for Bryce Coligan, it’s a 7 yard touchdown pass play, and Magnolia leads the defending champs 14-7.
It’s tied at 14 when Magnolia commits a costly mistake. Miscommunication between Moore and his receiver, and Tanner Schrank picks off the pass for Highland Park and takes it 34 yards the other way for the touchdown, Scots on top 28-14 at halftime.
Magnolia opens the third by marching down the field and Cedric Harris plunges into the end zone from two yards, and what’s better than a big guy touchdown, how about a big guy touchdown dance, nice belly rub right there!
But the Bulldogs can slow down the Highland Park offense in the 2nd half. Morris hooks up with Drew Scott for a 39-yard touchdown, and the Scots pull away late. Magnolia’s season comes to an end with a 63-28 loss to Highland Park.
