A lot on the line in Klein, as 2nd-year program Klein Cain can clinch a playoff berth with a win, but Klein Oak is a win away from its first district title in a decade.
On the opening drive, Cain’s Luke Pardee airs it out deep for Matthew Golden, and Golden hauls it in at the goalline for a 29 yard touchdown catch, Hurricanes up 7-0.
Still in the first, Charles Jones gets the carry for the Hurricanes, and he gets to the edge, Jones takes it 33 yards before he’s brought down inside the 2 yard line.
Moments later, it’s Golden in the backfield, and he punches it in from a yard out, Klein Cain leads 14-0 after one.
Klein Oak gets rolling in the 2nd. Montrell Bolton launches deep downfield for Dwight McGlothern, great adjustment by McGlothern and he takes it the distance, it’s a 56-yard touchdown pass play that makes it a 14-7 ballgame.
Bolton going back to the air, and guess who, it’s his favorite target, McGlothern, perfect pitch and catch, McGlothern with 11 receptions for 157 yards on the night, and it’s 14-13 Klein Cain at intermission.
The Panthers take their first lead in the third, as Bolton fires a thunderbolt to Elyjah Durden, nice grab by Durden and it’s a 38-yard scoring strike and Klein Oak goes in front 20-14.
But in the fourth, Cain’s Isaac Hudson powers his way into the end zone, and that’s the game-winner! Klein Cain is headed to the playoffs for the first time, with a 21-20 win over Klein Oak.
