Klein Collins Holds Off Klein Cain 40-24 to Stay Unbeaten in District 15-6A
Thursday night's kickoff turned into a Saturday morning finish, but the result was worth the wait for Klein Collins. A weather postponement due to heavy rain and lightning halted what had been a tight District 15-6A matchup between two unbeaten Klein ISD rivals — and when play resumed, the Tigers came out a different team.
Collins struck first when Brylon Jefferson connected deep with Tylan Penright, exploiting a breakdown in coverage for the early 7-0 lead. Klein Cain answered almost immediately, with Eyan Johnson taking the ensuing kickoff and breaking free for a return touchdown to put the Bobcats up 14-7. That's when the refs called it — lightning in the area forced the postponement.
By Saturday morning, Jefferson was locked in. He hit Quincy Armstead with a perfectly placed ball for a leaping catch, then watched Kobe Harmon use his speed to turn the corner and outrun the defense to the pylon, pushing Collins ahead 28-24. Jefferson found Penright again in the fourth quarter to help seal it, finishing with five total touchdowns accounted for.
Collins won 40-24, staying undefeated in District 15-6A. The Tigers' ability to weather — literally — the interruption and come back sharper speaks to a program that has handled adversity without losing its edge.
