Kinkaid Lacrosse is Trying to Become a State Power and Grow The Game
At the Kinkaid School, the Falcons lacrosse team is gearing up for another run at a Class A state championship. A title that seemed almost unattainable to most people after the Falcons started last year 2-11. However it was not far fetched to the kids in the Kinkaid locker room as they flipped the season on it’s head and finished it off hoisting a trophy. This year, the Falcons are looking to go back to back, but have once again started with some adversity. They began the year with 6 starters out with injuries and most of those guys are on offense. But their defense, led by goalie Colton Silverstein who is heading to Division 1 Delaware, has been on point. Which plays right into head coach Michael Centra’s playbook. At Kinkaid, the play on the field means more than just wins and losses. It’s about growing a sport that is slowly taking off in the state of Texas. Kinkaid is a K thru 12 school, so the youth of the school is on campus watching everything the older kids do. For the Falcons players that means teaching them about this fast paced sport. It’s important to these guys to get younger players involved in lacrosse and help turn Kinkaid into a state power year in and year out.
