Kingwood Mustangs vs Elsik Rams - 2013 Football - Zero Week
Elsik reached the 3rd round in 5A Division last year, starting out on the road against Kingwood. The Rams defense stepped up early as Aaron Jackson introduces himself to Logan Clift in the backfield for the sack. But Kingwood settled in, sophomore Selo Olinilua goes in for a short touchdown to give the Mustangs an early 7 -- 0 lead after one. First play of the 2nd quarter, and look at the leg on Nathan Walker, the 49 yard field goal makes it a 10 -- 0 Kingwood lead. But Elsik came right back on the ensuing kickoff Malcolm Washington cuts back across the field and goes down the sideline for the X yard touchdown cutting the lead to 10-6. Kingwood came right back as well, Skye Gagliano takes the give and plows towards the goal line, the effort turned out to be good for 9 yard touchdown and a 17-6 lead. Then Clift rolls left and lobs it over to Josh McPhereson who scoots in for the 32 yard score and it's 24-6 Kingwood. Coach Bill Barron telling the Rams to keep their chin up, but it wasn't working. DreMarcus Clarkson in all kinds of trouble in the endzone, he pumps then leaves it up there as Isaiah Shepherd dives in for the interception at the 2, Kingwood held Elsik to 136 yards on the night. The INT led to another Olinilua touchdown and a 31-6 lead for Kingwood as they went into the half. Kingwood cruises in the opener 34-19.
