Katy Taylor Mustangs vs. Seven Lakes Spartans - 2013-14 Girls Basketball 01/17/14

Katy Taylor was the last team to beat Seven Lakes in district 19-5A play but that was 2 years ago before current coach Blair Ary was leading the team, the Spartans were riding a 19 game winning streak into the matchup. 2nd quarter Katy Taylor's Samantha Atkinson Roach with a great drive to the hole, 20-14 Mustangs. Late 2nd, Caitlin Scherpereel launches a moon shot for 3, and Taylor took a 25-16 lead into the break. The Mustangs picked up right where they left off in the 3rd, Atkinson-Roach to Kayanna Hatfield-Mills on the fast break to make it 31-18 Taylor, and look at Ary over 8 months pregnant and out there high fiving on the floor, but just when it seemed like everything was going Katy Taylor's way, the champs settle in. Julia Bannister makes her way to the hoop, and Seven Lakes goes on a 6-0 run. Then Michelle Fokam who had a double double, gets the bucket and the foul cutting the lead to four with 6 and a half minutes to play. But Katy Taylor didn't crumble, the inbounds play to Scherpereel was part of a 10-3 spurt as Katy Taylor gets the big win on the road, 47-38. Yeah sometimes you just get excited I love these kids this is an amazing group of kids and sometimes you just forget what's going on, I'm sure my husband's not to happy about that.
