Katy Cinco Ranch Volleyball is Number 2 in The Area
Cinco Ranch has every reason to be dancing on the volleyball court. The Cougars have been one of the more dominant volleyball teams in the area the past decade and are currently ranked 2nd in the area as they entered this week 24-5 on the season. Cinco Ranch is a very experienced bunch and Coach Danielle Wells has made it clear she wants her girls to be a cerebral group on the court.
District 19-6A opponents have been fearful of the Cougars all season as Cinco Ranch hasn’t lost a district game as of yet. It’s been a trend for the girls for quite some time. Cinco Ranch has made it to at least the 3rd round of the playoffs the last 6 seasons. Last year they wound up a match short of a state tournament appearance after a loss to Tompkins in the regional final. The Cougars are determined to take that final step this season!
And it helps to have an O’Brien girl on the team as well. There has been an O’Brien sister on the Cinco Ranch roster since 2016 and Kassidy, the current setter for the Cougars, may be the best of the bunch. O’Brien, a junior, was the district’s Setter of the year as a sophomore and newcomer of the year as a freshman. She’s already committed to 2020 National Champion, Kentucky, to play volleyball and is the true captain of this unit.
