Stratford girls knew the assignment going into their game with Jersey Village. Win and they were in the post season....lose and they'd have a play in game with Cy Fair.
2nd quarter, Stratford's defense gets it going. Rachel Ashby takes the ball from a careless dribbler, which helped the Spartans win our defensive title belt, but we're not done there. On the other end Aria Taylor sees Gretchen Loveless pop open underneath. Loveless scores and is fouled. 16-8 Stratford.
Later, Emma Adisa (Uh-DEE-sa) gets the mismatch outside and drives by her defender, gets hacked and scores. Stratford led 23-17 at the half.
3rd quarter, the Falcons go to Jayla Lewis who drives and makes this tough layup to keep the Jersey Village deficit manageable at 7.
But Ashby and the Spartans were hungry for a playoff spot. Here she gets another steal, takes it to the hole, does the little "spinerooski" and scores. Stratford is heading to the post season with a 54-40 win.
