Turn back the clock 4 years ago and Grand Oaks volleyball Head Coach, Morgan Rogers, knew this 2023 team was going to be special.
The recognition Coach Rogers speaks of is quite impressive. Not only are the Grizzlies the top 6-A team in the state, but the rank in the top 5 in the NATION. Heading into this week, Grand Oaks was 40-1 and were on a 14 match winning streak. They play in front of packed home crowds as everyone wants to be a part of this run.
The player who stands out on this talented bunch is 6 foot middle blocker, Jaela (Jayla) Auguste (UH-gust). The Florida commit spent the past summer on the USA under 19 team helping the U-S win gold at the World Championships in Croatia and Hungary. The most impressive thing is that the senior has only played volleyball competitively since she was 14. Jaela’s rapid growth in the sport has been simply amazing to her coach and teammates.
And when Jaela and her teammates ARE having a good day on the volleyball court, their opponents are probably having a bad day. As the Grizzlies confidence is getting stronger every match.
