Girls Hoops Team of the Year
When it comes to girls hoops there really isn’t any debate who should be crowned the team of the year in Houston. Coach Jennifer Alexander’s squad received national attention and rankings for its amazing season. From the start of the season, the Lady Cougars were playing in championship form. Tenacious defense led to effortless offense against some of the best teams in the area, and it didn’t seem to matter how teams challenged Cy Creek, as the Lady Cougars could just as easily beat you from inside… or from beyond the arc.
A team that is used to success, Cy Creek used the adversity of losing in the regional semi-finals to focus on winning this season…

That statement was made in every game by the Lady Cougars. Rarely did they play a close game and by the end of district play, Cy Creek boasted an unblemished record…
Even as they marched through the playoffs, Cy Creek felt little pressure, winning its first five postseason games by an average of just under 40 points a game.
Despite falling just short of their ultimate goal, a state title, Cy Creek finished the year as state runners-up, after falling to Duncanville in the 6A final.
