Fulshear Stays Unbeaten with 38-28 Road Win Over Waller in 23-6A
District 23-6A had a first-time matchup with serious implications Friday night, and Fulshear made the most of it. The Chargers rolled into Waller and built a commanding 21-0 halftime lead before surviving a second-half rally to win 38-28 and remain undefeated on the season.
Quarterback Ryland Forks was the engine early, using the read option to carve up the Waller defense. He faked the handoff, kept it himself, avoided multiple tacklers, and found the end zone on one of his two first-half scoring runs. By halftime, Fulshear looked firmly in control.
Waller had other ideas. TK Gaines connected with Glowin Mbobile on a flare screen that turned into a 76-yard touchdown, and the Bulldogs followed that up with another Gaines-to-Mbobile score on a slant route to cut the deficit to 21-14. The momentum had fully shifted.
Fulshear answered when it had to. Mason West found Tre Clewis over the middle, and Clewis turned a short catch into a 63-yard touchdown to push the lead back to 28-14. Waller responded again — Gaines converted a tush push that somehow went 32 yards — but the Chargers got the final word late in the fourth quarter when Jaelyn Collins reversed field and scored to seal it.
The 38-28 final keeps Fulshear unbeaten and sends a message early in district play.
