20-6A battle at Mercer as Elkins took on Clements
Knights take the early lead. Isaiah Smith throws the screen to Jackson Hart who turns on two defenders and goes 29 yards for the score. 7-0 Elkins
2nd quarter, Rangers trying to mount a comeback, but Elkins defensive back Dexter Jackson reads the quarterback's eyes perfectly and makes the pick. Jackson takes it all the way back to the 2 where the Knights would later score. Elkins would lead 21-7 at the half.
But don't count out Clements. Not shaken by the pick he threw earlier, Gunner Chenier (Sha-neer) rolls right and dumps it to J R Mirelles (Mur-el-is) and he has a clear path down the sidelines for a 53 yard touchdown. Rangers down 21-14.
Later in the 3rd, Clements is down to the 3 and Chenier just goes right up the middle for the score. Missed extra point keeps the Rangers down a point, 21-20.
Fourth quarter, Clements down to the 10, Chenier fakes the hand off and rolls right. Gabriel Moacyr (MO-uh-sir) is open in the back of the end zone for the score. 26 unanswered points for the Rangers and they win it 26-21.
