Fort Bend Bush Remains Tough to Beat on the Track
Not much has changed over the past decade with the George Bush track team. They are synonymous with success. With an exception of the Covid year of 2020, the girls team has been to state each of the past 10 years. However, this year, the Broncos have experienced some change. And it’s happened at the top. Tiwana Stewart and Donte Saulter are both in their first years at Bush and are aiming to continue the Bronco tradition intact.
For Boys Coach Donte Saulter, it’s a different goal. He’s looking for his athletes to establish their own identity.
Despite being new to the program, both coaches have made a connection with their track stars. Even with the seniors, who have been in track their whole lives, their new leaders have managed to help them with certain aspects on the track.
The strength of both programs is in their senior leadership. On the girls side, Bush has two athletes heading to D-1 programs. But many on the team will say they are most excited with the younger track stars. Being able to leave their track and field legacy in the hands of sophomores and freshman isn’t anything the Broncos worry about.
