East Chambers Buccaneers vs. White Oak Roughnecks - 2013 Basketball - Week 10
(sounds of national anthem - trombone solo) On to 2A where East Chambers was making its 1st state tournament appearance since 1996 and were taking on 35-1 White Oak so the Buccaneers would have to come together to pull off the upset. East Chambers had some fight early on, the steal from Bryant Collier on one end, then the Bucs get it downcourt and over to Jarred Guillory who hits the three pointer on the other end to give East Chambers a 7-4 lead. Guillory had ten points on the day. White Oak goes to work, a great spin move by Kris Anderson and he dishes to Hayden Nichols it was part of a 14-3 run for White Oak and they led 18-10 after the first quarter. Coach Tremaine Hancock was looking to rally the troops. Glen Roberts goes up between 3 defenders for the bucket, but White Oak consistently found an answer this Nichols jumper puts White Oak by up 17. 6-7 Levy Yancy hasn't decided on a college yet, but he may have a few more options after his performance his 6 blocks shots on the day certainly made it tough for East Chambers to get things going down low. But East Chambers chipped away cutting the lead to 7 at the half thanks to threes like this from Dory Roberts. 3rd quarter Nichols hits the shot to stretch the White Oak lead to 12, he led all scorers with 21 points. East Chambers didn't give up, Brennan Beckett drains a 3 pointer, he led the Buccaneers with 11 points. But White Oak was relentless, Yancy goes coast to coast he had 16 points and 15 rebounds to go with his 6 blocks and East Chambers sees their season come to an end one game sooner than they would've liked 69-50. I know when I sit down and look back on the memories that we have some of the things that we went through to get where we are it just inspires me to do even better next year.
