Cy Springs Girls Hoops is Dominant Force
Taneisha Rogers has been the head coach at Cy Springs for 10 years and last year’s squad was the first team she’s taken to regionals. It was a tremendous accomplishment and one she takes great pride in, however, as soon as that season ended, Rogers was even more excited for the next one to begin. And why not? The Panthers are primed for what could very well be an amazing season with a roster full of the best talent you’ll find in the state. It starts with Ayla (Eye-luh) McDowell the 2 time district MVP who is still just a junior. Like most of the Panthers, McDowell is a threat on all 3 levels of offense. Last year she led Cy Springs in points, blocks and rebounds and has gained the respect of our teammates. Then there’s the freshman, Jemini Mitchell. Already seen as arguably the best 15 year old in the state, Mitchell works hard to prove her worth on and off the court. If there was a missing piece to the Panthers puzzle, it may have been Ma’Riya “Mo” Vincent. The senior transfer from DeSoto brings the experience of playing at state to a young team who is desperate to get there. Her positive energy and knowledge of what it takes to make it to San Antonio has been vital to Cy Springs success. And as it turns out…..excelling on the basketball court isn’t the Panthers only talent Subscribe to Houston Inside High School Sports to stay up to date on everything high school sports related in the Greater Houston Area!
