Cy Springs Girls Basketball Tops Reigning 4A State Champ Dallas Lincoln 48-42
Beating a reigning state champion takes more than a good night — it takes a performance. Sophomore Maddison Madkins delivered exactly that, knocking down five three-pointers and finishing with 19 points to lead the Cy Springs Lady Panthers past Dallas Lincoln, 48-42.
The game was tight at the half, with Cy Springs holding a slim 21-19 lead. Madkins had already connected from the corner to help build that cushion, but the Lady Panthers came out of the locker room with a different level of intensity on the defensive end. The pressure forced turnovers, and Milan Barnes converted one of those miscues into a layup to push the lead to 32-28.
Madkins kept the offense humming, pulling up behind the arc in transition for her fifth three of the game. Fellow sophomore Makenzie Jackson added to the damage, slicing through the Lincoln defense for an and-one that helped seal the outcome.
The win carries extra weight given the opponent. Dallas Lincoln entered as the reigning 4A state champions, making Cy Springs' 48-42 victory one of the more significant results the program has posted in recent memory. Former Bobblehead winner and Cy Springs alum Ayla McDowell was on hand to witness it firsthand.
