And right away, they did just that. First drive, Deniquez Dunn hands it to E Monte Wilson for a 21 yard gain deep into Aledo territory.
Then Dunn goes to Jaylen Herman with the quick 9 yard strike. Cougars on top 7-0 right off the bat.
Bearcats first possession, Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi connects with Alabama commit, Jo Jo Earle and Earle splits the defenders and then breaks a tackle. He's gone down the sidelines for a 74 yard touchdown to tie it at 7.
But here comes Crosby, Dunn bombs one to Irvin Paige who looks like he catches it simultaneously with the defender but the refs give Paige the catch. That's big.
Reggie Branch would later easily jog in from the 2 yard line, putting Crosby up 14-7.
Aledo would score twice to take a 7 point lead, and then Dunn, near midfield, has all the time in the world..waiting, waiting, then decides to just dump it off but Cap Mooney is there for the pick. Big turnaround there.
Later in the quarter, Demarco Roberts would score his 4th touchdown of the half. This one from the 20. 35-14 at the half.
Second half, game was getting out of hand, but Crosby still giving effort. Dunn to Branch on the screen. Branch takes it 45 yards down to the red zone.
Dunn would follow it up with a 7 yard run to the end zone. Coogs still down 4 scores though as the Aledo offensive line was just too powerful.
Roberts again. Up the middle for a 54 yard touchdown. The offensive M-V-P finished with 255 yards and 6 touchdowns as Aledo beats Crosby 56-21 to win their state record 10th title.
