Atascocita got the ball one last time as time was winding down and Caleb Bubel whose career long had been only 32 yards, knocks home a 41 yarder to win the game. To the 5A Division II area round for #3 on the list. Manvel was fired up for Bush. a battle of outstanding quarterbacks highlighted the matchup in which the two teams accounted for 1,068 yards. Manvel's D'Eriq King threw for 3 touchdowns ran for 3 touchdowns and 298 yards as Manvel held a 13 point lead in the 2nd half. Not to be out done Bush's Ronald Monroe threw for 495 yards and 5 touchdowns and he found his brother Donald Monroe for a touchdown with 1:39 left to take a 44-43 lead. But Manvel came right back and King hits Jamond Manuel with 6 seconds left to win a thriller 51-44. #2 was Westfield's Regional Semifinal matchup with Skyline in a rematch of last year at the same field in Georgetown no less. The Mustangs jumped out on Skyline 34-20 at half time, but the Raiders responded with plays like this Sederian Copeland touchdown pass to Emmanuel Harris to tie the game at 41. The matchup would go to double overtime where Courtland Greenwood would score to make it 55-48. Skyline would get flagged for 2 15 yard penalties and it was too much to overcome as Westfield closes things out. And the Chevy's Inside High School Sports Game of the year is the 5A Division I semifinal between Pearland and San Antonio Madison. It was a back and forth game all day, Madison's Cody Ennis hits Byron Daniels in the corner of the endzone to put the Mavericks on top 34-31 with less than 2 minutes left in the game, but on the ensuing kickoff Jacoby Lewis fields it from his own 3, and he's gonna find his way downfield, there were 4 lead changes in the games final 11 minutes, as Lewis takes it back for the touchdown. The Mavericks were trying for a 5th lead change, but on 4th and 15, Pearland's Ryan Diaz is there for the INT and the hard fought 38-34 victory.
