Chevy Spotlight - Navasota Baseball
"NAVASOTA’S BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL FIELDS HAVE GOTTEN QUITE THE FACE LIFT. THE DISTRICT SPENT CLOSE TO 7 MILLION DOLLARS TO UPGRADE THEIR ATHLETIC FACILITIES AND THE BALL FIELDS SAW A MAJORITY OF THAT. PLUSH NEW TURF, SHINY NEW DUGOUTS, AND UPDATED BULLPENS AND BATTING CAGES HAVE BROUGHT A NEW EXCITEMENT TO THE RATTLER BALL PLAYERS.
AND WITH BETTER PLAYING FIELDS, THE RATTLERS ARE HOPING FOR EVEN BETTER RESULTS. THE SOFTBALL TEAM HAS ONLY MADE THE POST SEASON ONCE AND HAS NEVER WON A PLAYOFF GAME. BUT EXPECTATIONS ARE HIGH THIS YEAR. THE RATTLERS HAVE A STRONG PITCHER IN SENIOR, EMILY RIPKOSKI (RIP-cos-SKI), TO GO ALONG WITH SOME BIG BATS AND A SOLID DEFENSE.
AS FOR THE RATTLER BASEBALL TEAM, THEY ARE LOOKING FOR STEADY IMPROVEMENT DURING THE NON DISTRICT WHILE GETTING READY TO TAKE A SHOT AT A DISTRICT TITLE. NAVASOTA IS YOUNG….ESPECIALLY AT PITCHER, WHERE THEY WILL START 3 FRESHMAN. BUT THOSE FRESHMAN ARE HUNGRY TO PROVE THEMSELVES AND TO THEIR TEAMMATES, THEY ALREADY HAVE.
WHAT WILL HELP THE YOUNG PITCHERS WILL BE THEIR DEFENSE UP THE MIDDLE. THE OUTFIELD IS FAST AND THE MIDDLE INFIELD CAN MAKE PLAYS.
OF COURSE, THE ADDED ENTHUSIASM OF GETTING TO PLAY AT THEIR NEW RENOVATED FACILITY, IS JUST ADDING TO THE PLAYERS DESIRE TO REACH THEIR GOALS. A POSSIBILITY TO BE THE FIRST NAVASOTA TEAM TO HOST A PLAYOFF GAME OR HANG A DISTRICT BANNER AT THEIR NEW FIELD IS SOMETHING THESE GUYS AND GALS STRIVE FOR"
