Baytown Lee High School Interact Club - Chevy Spotlight
July 21, 2018
There are probably a lot of things a typical teenager would prefer to be doing on Thanksgiving morning. Being here I feel like I’m giving back to those, I just feel it’s the right thing to do. People who say we’re real worried about our future generations, they need to watch these kids. Serving meals to the community along with interact clubs from Sterling, Goose Creek Memorial and Impact Early College non Thanksgiving isn't the only time the Lee interact club lends a helping hand. The Lee students collected 1500 canned goods, helped with a clothing and toy drive and will be collecting pet food for the local animal shelter in February. Our club has really made a difference, we’ve started many projects that have spread across the world and we can see the actual change and the help that is going around. You can always make time for things you need to do and for something like community service is really something we should try to make time for. The desire to help has nothing to do with not having enough to do. The interact club students are involved in other extra curricular activities across the board, but the average of 50 annual hours of community service each member puts in goes a long way. Because a lot of them praise them while they’re sitting here, there’s a joy on their faces. You really see the joy on their faces, and they praise us a lot for the food that we give them. When you're dishing out around 8,000 meals in one day, and working to make the holidays warmer for the entire community you need all the help you can get. The Baytown Lee Interact Club, the focus of this weeks Chevy Spotlight.
