Alvin vs. Stratford - 2019 Week 1 Football Highlights

Alvin visits Stratford, and it’s the debut for new Alvin coach Tim Teykl(take-ul), who spent 26 years at Rosenberg Terry before serving as an assistant at U-H.

Early problems for the yellow jackets though. The ball squirts loose and Stratford’s Luke Simonich is there for the Spartans recovery.

Stratford cashes the turnover into points. Darese Steptoe (duh-reese) takes the handoff and scampers into the end zone from 8 yards out, Spartans up 7-0.

In the 2nd, Stratford quarterback Dylan Shoemake swings it out to Nicholas Barenstecker, who muscles his way across the goalline for a 10-yard score and Stratford takes a 14-0 halftime lead.

Moving to the 3rd, Steptoe gets the carry and he gets to the edge, he breaks free for 34 of his 122 yards on the night to get Stratford deep into Alvin territory.

Moments later, Steptoe steps through a Yellow Jackets defender and right into the end zone for his second score of the night, 11 yard TD and it’s 21-0 Stratford.

Late in the third, it’s Diego Denson drawing the handoff for Stratford, and Denson dances right through the defense, 54 yards untouched for the score, and Stratford spoils Teykl’s debut at Alvin with a 28-0 shutout victory.
