St John's Boy's Basketball - Chevy Spotlight

They have a championship tradition that dates back to the 50's and this years St. John's boys basketball team certainly seems capable of living up to expectations. This team, I love this team I've been been waiting to coach this team since they were in 7th grade. In 7th grade I think they lost one game, in 8th grade I think they might have lost one game. Since the current seniors have been in high school the Mavericks have won 2 SPC titles and lost in the finals last year. With me being a senior and this is my last year along with some other guys, we want to go out strong and just have fun and create some memories that we can have for life. Winslow is the unquestioned star of this years team. The senior will make new memories at Duke next year. If the Winslow name rings a bell he's the son of Phi Slama Jama star Rickie Winslow. With Rickie being such a prominent basketball player, and now Justise being a prominent basketball player, it's one of those things you don't hear about very often. As far as all the hype goes with Rickie being the #1 or #2 player in the country, and Justise being ranked so high I think there's a fair comparison there. He's a great player having him since 6th grade makes basketball so much easier, because of him we've gotten to play against the best teams and players in the country and obviously I'm biased, but to me he's as good as they come. The elder Winslow was also one of the nation's top recruits and is currently an assistant at St. John's. He had a 12 year pro career with stops all over the world. He was coached by legends, played with legends, and was recognized by throwing up the ceremonial tip at the St. John's game in the Fonde Legends Classic earlier this season. It was a great moment to share with St. John's, as well as my son Justise and the rest of his teammates. I've had some experiences here that you have to cherish for a life time. My dad does great things on and off the court, just growing up I've been Rickie Winslow's son, but I'm trying to create a name for myself, but then my mom has been important throughout the process. Going on all the trips with me, supporting me driving me to practice things like that. So I can't thank my parents enough very grateful for the things they have done for me, helping me become the man I am today. The St. John's Boys Basketball Team this week's Chevy Spotlight.
