Anna Eberspacher Has Overcome Obstacles to Still Compete in the Pool

Angleton junior Anna Eberspacher (E-ber-spatch-er) has been in the water swimming since she was seven years old. And since then she has dedicated her life to the sport… Late nights, early mornings, day in and day out, honing her craft. Then in January of 2021 she received news that would change her life forever and threaten to take away the sport she loved. Anna experienced some knee pain and doctors believed it was just a baker's cyst, but after further diagnosis they revealed to her that it was much worse. To make matters worse, an infection delayed her ability to get back in the water. Doctors estimated she’d be able to resume swimming 6-8 weeks after the amputation. However due to the infection she wasn’t able to swim for another four months. Due to her amputation, all of her previous times and personal records had become unreachable. But that hasn't stopped her and she’s used the loss of her leg as motivation to set new goals. Anna continues to have a positive attitude throughout all the challenges she has faced Subscribe to Houston Inside High School Sports to stay up to date on everything high school sports related in the Greater Houston Area!
